On 14th December, 1914, the 2nd Manchester battalion of 14 Brigade, 5th Division had two companies in trenches east of Wulverghem in Belgium with the other two companies in billets in Neuve Eglise. The two forward companies were heavily shelled during the day resulting in 5 men killed and 18 wounded. Joseph Webb was one of those killed. |
